Woodland-Cartersville sophomore running back Solomon James has been terrific to start the 2025 season. The stout running back is majestic with the football in his hands, rushing for 550 yards and 5 touchdowns on the season so far.
Last week against Cass, James had a 70-yard touchdown run that earned a spot on the top plays of the week. The sophomore took a handoff, found a seam between the tackles, and exploded upfield. After getting by the first level of the defense, James bounced towards the left sideline with two Cass defenders trailing in pursuit. At around the 10-yard line, one defender dove from behind, and the other grabbed James up top, but the sophomore was not to be denied. He stepped out of the tackle, spun out of the other while staying in bounds, then bullied the final 5 yards into the endzone.
The play was voted the #2 play in the state of Georgia for Week 7. James has made several impressive runs this year where his balance, power, and running instincts are on full display, so we asked how he would describe the season so far.
“The first half of the season has been good so far. In 5 games, I have 550 yards, and my goals for the rest of the season are to have 100+ yards for these last 5 games,” James said.
The explosive 2028 running back has the innate ability to break arm tackles, and his strong lower base allows him to drive forward for extra yardage after contact. Improving his balance was a key area of focus last offseason.
“I’ve improved my balance from last year. It would take 1 person to tackle me, now it takes about 4-5,” he said.
James is a D1 caliber prospect, and several local programs, along with an ACC program out of state, have shown an interest in the budding star RB.
“I’m hearing from Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Virginia Tech, and the University of Georgia. I have 2 visits planned this fall, October 4th at Georgia State vs James Madison, and October 9th, Kennesaw State vs Louisiana Tech.”
No doubt, James will be a prospect to watch in the coming weeks, months, and years. He has already made the top 10 plays of the week twice this season, and his ability to break tackles is elite among his peers, making us believe there are more top play nominations on the horizon.
“What I can bring to the college level is my tough physicality, tackle breaking, and my good size at 5’11 190,” he said.
As we always say on here, if you consistently make big-time plays, then colleges’ interest will surely follow, so be sure to follow our Twitter/X page @RecruitGeorgia to hear the latest on James and players across the state of Georgia.
