Lee County defense had some explosive talent in 2024 with a number of D1 caliber athletes flying around. Among those athletes is junior edge defender Martin Atkins, who seems to flying under the radar. The 2026 athlete had a total of 6 sacks on the year and tallied almost 70 tackles too. At 6’3″ and 230 lbs., Atkins has a good frame to grow into and be around 250-260 at the college level. A great motor after the football coupled with solid speed in pursuit gives Atkins the tools to be a legit FBS pass-rusher. Uses his hands well getting off blocks, seeing him take on double teams while lining up over the A gap shows the versatility, but more importantly physicality. We don’t have weight lifting metrics on Atkins, but undoubtedly, he is strong. Atkins needs to continue to sharpen up his footwork, get lower with his pad level to help with leverage. The 2026 has strong violent hands, disengaging blockers quickly and you have to love his hustle. Atkins will line up inside and bust his tail to the flats to make a tackle. Senior year, Atkins should be showcased on the edge more, and a double digit sack season seems likely. As of now, Georgia State is his lone offer, but the dynamic athlete will find a recruiting foothold soon with more offers soon.
