We also have Player of the Year voting directly down below. To avoid bots, we are going to put a restriction of one vote per hour, but want to acknowledge committed voters can/will still download a VPN, and change their IP address. This will hopefully provoke the original intent of this vote being a free-for-all but exclude bots programmed – fingers crossed! Voting will still end Wednesday 1/20 at 10 pm!

Pierce County’s Jermaine Brewton led his school to new heights in 2020 with their first-ever state title win. Brewton was the most efficient signal-caller in 3-A with 131 QBR completing 70% of his passes while totaling 24 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions. Brewton threw for 1838 yards, and on the ground, he rushed for 670 yards and 15 touchdowns. Brewton, who was named Region Player of the Year, has also seen an uptick to his senior recruitment over the last month here.
Clark Howell out of North Hall was the classification’s leader with 1716 rushing yards on the season. He averaged 156 yards per game, which was the highest of any player in 3-A, and he also had 23 touchdowns, as well. The senior has good patience reading his blocks, and a long running stride. Howell is severely under-recruited at the moment. The MVP of the state championship and the 2nd running back to make the All-State team is sophomore DJ Bell out of Pierce County. Just watching his huge performance in the 2nd half of the state title game, and you knew Bell was a special talent, but his great 2020 seasons extends beyond just one game. Bell was 2nd in the classification with 1521 rushing yards, 17 touchdowns, and averaged 8.1 yards per carry. Bell is no doubt a 2023 recruit to remember. The first of our flex picks goes to Javin Whatley our of Rockmart. The senior with elite quickness was 3rd in the classification with 1365 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. He also passed for 959 yards and 12 touchdowns. Whatley finished the year with a total of 2324 yards and named Region Player of the Year for the 2nd time. Jalik Thomas out of Central-Macon is our 2nd flex pick. The uber-versatile playmaker had 820 passing yards and 8 touchdowns while also rushing for 900 yards and 13 touchdowns. Thomas was named Region Offensive Player of the Year. He will be starting out college at Hutchinson CC.
Stephens County senior receiver Gamarion Carter makes out 3-A team. The 6’3″ receiver with elite athleticism reports a near 40′ vertical jump. He was leaping downfield for 638 yards and was 2nd in the classification with 24.6 yards per catch – all done in just 8 games. Carter will suit up for Vanderbilt at the next level. Junior Tyler Griffin is another big-play threat out of SE Bulloch. The 6’5″ receiver caught 22 receptions for 605 yards and 8 touchdowns. Amazingly, Griffin averaged a touchdown for every third catch he made and led the classification with a 27 yard per catch average. Griffin was also named Region Player of the Year and expected to be a national recruit in the class of 2022. GAC’s Brooks Miller was one of the most consistent receivers in the classification with 10 touchdowns, which led the competition. Miller had 761 yards on the year hauling in 56 receptions in the process and also totaled 1287 all-purpose yards. Miller is a super-quick slot receiver who is effective at getting around defenders after the catch. Jake Johnson was once again the big-play threat over at Oconee County, and for the 2nd year in a row Johnson makes our All-State team. The region Player of the Year had 698 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns. The class of 2022 tight end had tough competition for this spot on the All-State team, beating out several more 4 star recruits, but his 2020 season was well deserving.
GAC junior Addison Nichols is one of the best blockers in the class of 2022, and easily takes the spot at the top of this OL group. Nichols has great technique and shows proficiency blocking in both the run and pass. Keon Watson out of Cedar Grove is a huge road grading offensive lineman weighing well over 300 lbs. Watson definitely looks a lot quicker in his senior film, and think some D1 schools need to take a look at the senior, who earned region Lineman of the Year too. Patch Bennett is the type of center that you want to go to war with. The senior out of Pierce County is a relentless blocker driving defenders quickly back and out of the play. Bennett stands 6’3″ and 250 lbs. and still unsigned. Terrance Ferguson out of Peach County has widely been considered one of the top offensive lineman in his class since his freshman year. Ferguson continues to dominate his senior year, and makes our All-State for the third year in a row, being one of the few players ever to do so. Ferguson will be attending Alabama. Carsen Stocklinksi out of Oconee County could always make an argument of either side of the line, but the athletic senior will be slotted on our OL team. Stocklinski is an extremely athletic lineman who blocks fiercely on the gridiron. The senior is signed with Richmond. Mateo Guevara earns the last spot on this All-State offensive line, and is the 2nd junior to make the list. Guevara is a technically sound lineman who gets excellent leverage while blocking and does a great job of driving through the defender. Guevara was named Lineman of the Year in his region.
Alex Bachetta out of Westminster has been Mr. Consistent over his career. The 2022 kicker has been 30/36 on his field goal attempts throughout his career, never missing a field goal inside the 45. He was also 21/24 on touchbacks his junior year. Expect Bachetta, who is widely regarded as one of the top kickers in 2022, to be heavily recruited during this next recruiting cycle. The athlete of the year spot goes to AJ Lofton. The Crisp County senior really played all over the field throwing 308 yards, rushing for 790 yards, and receiving 233 yards. The senior ended up with 1331 total yards and 14 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball he ended up with 17 tackles, 3 interceptions, and also broke up 7 passes too. Lofton was named region Athlete of the Year and remains still unsigned. The Crisp senior is a clutch football athlete and a true team player.
Appling County’s Darris Smith is a long 6’6″ 230 edge-rusher who earned Defensive Player of the Year in his region. The quick-twitch athlete totaled 56 tackles, 20 for a loss and 12 sacks on the year. The junior has already committed to Georgia. Wesley Bentley out of Upson-Lee was all over the field totaling 82 tackles his senior year, but we were even more encouraged by the negative plays he created. The 2021 recruit had 28 tackles for a loss, which led the classification, and 12 sacks. Bentley still remains unsigned. Nick Mercer out of Crisp County had a special season totaling right at 100 tackles, putting him at the top of any DL in the classification. The senior also had 26 tackles for a loss and 14 sacks, which led the classification too. Mercer is signed with Georgia Southern. Joshua White out of Cedar Grove was the most effective pass-rusher in all of DeKalb County. The 2022 edge defender had 20 tackles for loss and 3 forced fumbles while hauling in 8.5 sacks. White is a 2022 recruit with a ton of upside. Donelius Johnson played more of a hybrid role his junior year at Pierce County lining up at both linebacker and defensive end. Johnson is a very powerful athlete, getting off blocks very quickly, and creating havoc. He ended up with 113 tackles on the year, 24 tackles for a loss, and 12 sacks. Johnson should see his recruitment heat up in the coming months.
Pierce County’s Austin Jernigan was a tackling-machine for the state champs. The region Defensive Player of the Year finished off the season with 129 tackles, 20 tackles for a loss and 6.5 sacks. The high-motor senior remains unsigned, and under the radar. Christopher Paul led all linebackers in the classification with 24 tackles for loss. The hard-hitting Crisp County linebacker makes the All-State team for the 2nd year in a row. He finished off his senior year with 117 tackles and earned Defensive Player of the Year in his region. Paul was one of the first players to sign-up for our service back in 2017 and will be suiting up for Arkansas next fall. Aidan Bailey is a heat-seeking missile out there on the field closing the gap between him and the ball carrier in the blink of an eye. Bailey led his team with 99 tackles on the year, and a semifinal finish. Bailey was named Region Player of the Year. The senior is unsigned. Justin Coleman out of Oconee County hits like a dynamite stick on the field. The 2021 recruit led his team with 124 tackles; he also forced several turnovers as well. Coleman works his tail off on the field and was named Region Defensive Player of the Year last fall. The last linebacker spot goes to another Oconee player in West Weeks. The 2021 student-athlete used his great sideline-to-sideline speed to total 91 tackles, but he also totaled 420 all-purpose yards and 5 touchdowns. The Virginia signee was named Player of the Year in his region and led his team to the state title game in consecutive years (2019 and 2020).
Leading all of 3-A in interceptions is junior Jamori Wright out of Appling County. The cornerback had a grand total of 8 interceptions on the year, which also made him one of the leaders in the entire state of Georgia. Wright has very good speed, and we fully expect his recruiting interest to shoot up in the coming months. Kayin Lee out of Cedar Grove is one of the most talented CB prospects we have seen in the last 5 years. The instinctual cornerback is the only sophomore to make this All-State team. The light-footed cornerback had 3 interceptions on the year and was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year in his region. TyQuan Grissett out of the Academy of Richmond County led his high school to their first-ever region championship in 2020. Grissett was named defensive player of the year after totaling 100 tackles, 2 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, and also 5 fumble recoveries. The turnover-machine who hits like a bag of hammers will be playing at Notre Dame College next fall. Mason Byron out of Monroe Area was the classification leader with 152 tackles, and just over the last two seasons, the 2021 recruit is now over 250 tackles. Byron also had 5 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble as well while also breaking up 7 passes too. The senior really did it all, even getting 1394 all-purpose yards too. Byron was named region Athlete of the Year. Byron is another recruit way under the radar despite his excellent production. Appling County’s Tyrell Gibson earns the last DB spot. The team leader in tackles with 93 on the year, 14 coming for a loss, Gibson also impacted the passing game with 6 interceptions, and 7 pass breakups too. Gibson has been a dynamic defensive playmaker the last few years at Appling County and received his first D1 offer in December from Stetson.
Punter Connor Weselman was a leader in the classification averaging 42 yards per punt and a net average of 40 yards. He had a long of 67 yards. The Westminster senior is widely regarded as one of the top punters in the country and is signed with Stanford. Dante Tidwell-Edwards was one of North Georgia’s most dynamic returners breaking off big chunks of yardage and taking a punt back all the way for a score. Tidwell-Edwards was one of 3-A’s most consistent playmakers, a legit threat to score on special teams at any moment, and is hearing from a slew of D1 programs down the stretch here.
