2018 Defensive Position Rankings

In conjunction with Version 4.0 of the Recruit Georgia’s Player Rankings, we are releasing an updated Position Rankings breakdown. Below are those athletes that project on the defensive side of the ball along with kickers.

With the Spring Evaluation Period still going on, there are hundreds of scholarships offers yet to come for athletes in the Peach State. The month of May has been crazy, and for the first time Georgia high schools have played spring games against one another.

The rankings will be reviewed again later on this summer, so if you feel overlooked please fill out our PROSPECT FORM to increase your exposure to college coaches.

Cornerback

One of the hottest prospects this spring has been Alpharetta’s Jaycee Horn, with more than 30 offers. Horn makes a jump from #9 to #7 at his position. Also moving up is Brookwood two-way standout Kendal Williamson, jumping from #11 to #9. He recently picked up offers from Louisville, Mississippi State, NC State, Vanderbilt and Virginia. The highest new corner entry is Jaison Taylor of Newton at #17. Newton has hit the double digit mark in offers.

Defensive End

This is possibly the most talented and sought after position group in Georgia. Making huge upward movement is Kingsley Enagbare of Hapeville Charter, rocketing from #11 to #4 at the defensive end position. Recent LSU commit Jamarcus Chatman makes a move from #7 to #5, the Rome product chose the Tigers over 50 other scholarship offers. There are two new entries that college coaches, far and wide, will want to know. Caleb Johnson (Northside-Columbus) and Andrew Johnson (Tift County) come in at #6 and #7 respectively. Both have accumulated several major Power Five offers.

Defensive Tackle

The biggest shaker and mover is Darnell Jefferies of Newton with over 25 FBS offers. Jefferies moves from #5 to #3. The highest new entry at this position belongs to Callaway’s Lichon Terrell. Terrell is actually a position move from defensive end and he currently has more than 15 DI offers. Another defensive end that has moved over is Jayden Barron out of Upson-Lee; he is now listed at #9.

Inside Linebacker

We have a new #1 at inside linebacker; Lovejoy’s Michael Harris makes a position move from outside backer and takes over the top spot. Harris has over 20 FBS offers including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Ohio State. Ernest Jones from Ware County also makes a switch and is now rated #2. The 2018 backer recently committed to South Carolina over Duke, Georgia Tech and Florida. The highest new entry outside of Harris is Jomier Augustine of Collins Hill. The inside-plugger makes his entry at #11.

Kicker & Punter

The big news here is the fact that Jake Camarda, one of the top punters in the country, verbally committed to Georgia over offers from Kentucky and Rutgers. There are six new entries, with the highest being punter Jackson Gravely of North Paulding at #7.

Outside Linebacker

This is the other position group that should attract mass hysteria nationwide. Moving from #6 to #3 in the position rankings is Richard Jibunor of Athens Christian. He currently has more than 15 FBS offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, North Carolina and Notre Dame. Hybrid DE/OLB Azzez Ojulari of Marietta jumps from #9 to #5 and has recently picked up offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and Florida. Stanford commit Tobe Umerah of Stratford Academy is the highest new entry at #9
