Recruiting Recap 1/9

The dead period lifts on January 14th, which means the 2016 recruiting cycle is about to be cranked up a few notches (even though offers still seem to be rolling in). Anybody who tags @RecruitGeorgia in your “commitment tweet” will get an automatic featured story on the website – guaranteed

RECRUITING BUZZ

Jacoby Hill, an explosive defensive end prospect from Carver (ATL), was offered last night by South Carolina. The onetime Purdue commit had solid JR film but most Power 5 schools continued wait. After a very impressive senior season, he is garnering the attention that he deserved all along. Indiana and Kansas State have also offered the athletic pass-rusher since his December 20th decommitment. Hill is explosive off the snap, and has the athletic ability to potentially become a devastating sack-artist at the next level. He is a prospect to watch leading up to NSD. – FILM

trqk6xptLambert offensive tackle Sean Bailey has been a longtime Cincinnati commit, but he let Recruit Georgia know last night that AAC rival East Carolina had offered. The senior is a mauler right tackle prospect with Power 5 size (6’7″ 315-pounds). – FILM

Kennesaw State brought the whole coaching staff to see Etowah athlete Bronson Rechsteiner. The two-way player has family has ties to the WWE, and plays with equal excitement. His 40 time is a legit 4.5 and he is an explosive athlete at linebacker and on offense. Recruit Georgia speculates Rechsteiner is being targeted as a B-Back prospect for the Owls. – FILM

Jake Walker from Darlington Prep committed to Western Carolina yesterday. Walker is a 6’4″ 225 TE/DE prospect who runs a reported 4.73 40 time. He announced via Twitter: “Excited to say that I’m officially committed to Western Carolina University!! #GoCatamounts.” – FILM

CYK7yt1WAAA49_HMason Kinsey was named Habersham Co.’s Best Offensive Player. Kinsey is a solid receiver prospect that many colleges continue to sleep on. He has excellent hands and very solid measurements (4.16 SH, 365 SQ, 285 PC, etc.). Kinsey has been an All-Region 2 years in a row at wide reciever. – RG Profile

Mack Nash, a 6’5″ 255-pound athlete from Camden Co, was offered by Central Florida to play defensive tackle. Recruit Georgia has long since thought Nash to be a DT/SDE based off his SR film. He arches his back and locks his arms out quickly when playing NT for Camden. Nash’s frame looks like he could carry 285-295 pounds and he wouldn’t lose much mobility. – FILM

Salem’s Evan Jones committed to the University of Illinois on January 7th. His decision was made after a flurry of offers. Western Carolina, Georgia State, Army, and Illinois over the last week offered the hard-hitting corner. Jones is an impressive looking defensive back with great size at 6’2″ 185 and a reported 4.48 40 time. He is a very sound tackler which could potentially mean a move to safety. – FILM

CWHxCBUUYAADEs_Carterville WR/CB prospect Trey Creamer was offered by Wake Forest earlier this week. Wake is the first to offer the Cartersville star, whose natural football instincts cannot be taught. The junior prospect shows a lot of potential on the defensive side of the ball due to his outstanding ability to play the pass and break it up (or pick it off). – RG Profile

Virginia Tech is the first school to offer uber-athletic sophomore cornerback Tre’ Douglas. It was his first offer but many more to come for the sophomore from Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy. The impressive corner played outstanding football in the State Championship game and finished the season with 5 INT’s, 43 tackles and 13 PBU’s. – FILM

Shawn Smith, a JR from Brunswick HS, was offered by Georgia Tech earlier this week and by West Virginia just minutes ago today. Smith is a 6′ 170-pound explosive slot receiver prospect. His break-away speed is evident on film, and his long running stride leaves defenders in the dust. Smith’s athleticism is sure to catch the eye of many more Power 5 schools going forward. – FILM
