Allatoona’s Duckworth is a Valuable Lineman

Allatoona’s dominant, high-IQ trench monster is senior two-way player Tyler Duckworth. Standing 6’3.5″ and 285 lbs., the physical standout combines brute force and rare athleticism on both sides of the ball with an outstanding 3.9 GPA in the classroom.

Duckworth recently made one of the most exciting plays of the high school football season, earning Top Play of the Week honors on the site. In a rare sequence for a 285-pound offensive lineman, Duckworth leaked out as a receiver on the goal line, giving Allatoona senior QB Frank Young a rather large and open target. The tackle-eligible trick play had Duckworth standing wide open; he hauled in the pass and rumbled the final few yards into the end zone for a highlight reel that most linemen dream of.

Seeing an offensive lineman find the end zone is a rarity, but for a player with Duckworth’s unique athleticism and explosiveness, it’s a great way for Allatoona to take advantage of his size and speed.

His dominant play has drawn accolades for years, starting before the season even kicked off when he was named an AJC Preseason All-State selection. That honor came after a big offseason where Duckworth built significant recruiting momentum, earning four Division I offers.

While Allatoona’s win-loss column didn’t end up where they wanted it, Duckworth’s senior campaign was a masterclass in toughness and durability as he anchored both sides of the ball.

“I would say senior season didn’t exactly go how I wanted in the wins category, but I was thankful to finally be able to showcase my ability to play both sides of the ball,” Duckworth said. “I finished with four sacks, 27 tackles, and an insurmountable amount of pancakes.”

Averaging between 80 to 100 snaps a game required an elite level of physical conditioning, which Duckworth highlighted as his biggest area of growth.

“I think I mostly improved in the aspect of conditioning,” he explained. “Being able to play 80 to 100 snaps a game on both sides of the ball was a big ask, and I was able to rely on my body and get it done.”

That relentless effort and two-way versatility have kept college coaches actively pursuing the senior lineman.

“Recently I’ve mainly been in talks with Lenoir-Rhyne, Morehouse, Chattanooga, and Tennessee Tech,” Duckworth noted, adding that he has already taken recent campus visits to both Lenoir-Rhyne and Morehouse.

Duckworth has proven to be a true warrior this fall, showing the stamina to play nearly 100 snaps a game. He played every snap with true grit and toughness, which colleges should covet.
