Ngando Gone Before You Know

The Marist War Eagles have a human joystick at the slot back in junior Ferdi Ngando. While he might not be the biggest player on the field at 5’7″ and 158 lbs., his athletic measurables are off the charts, boasting a blazing 4.4 40-yard dash and an elite 42-inch vertical jump.

That elite explosiveness was on full display during Week 10 when Ngando secured the #1 play of the week in the state. The speedy slot took a pitch down the right side of the field, where he was 1v1 with the safety. Ngando sized him up, and then unleashed a devastating spin move, which left the Chattahoochee safety diving at air en route to a 50-yard touchdown.

“I feel like we’ve had a strong season, and I’ve continued to get better each week,” Ngando said. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished so far and excited for what’s ahead.”

The humble playmaker admittedly doesn’t know his stats this season, saying, “I am not gonna lie, I am not really sure about my stats this season, but I have a couple of touchdowns.” None more explosive than last Friday’s touchdown, where Ngando used his lightning-quick elusiveness to break into the open field and make a big touchdown.

“I think I’ve improved the most in my overall football IQ, making plays in space, and getting better at blocking,” he explained.

As Marist pushes through the back half of the schedule, the junior’s focus remains entirely on team success.

“My goals are to keep helping the team win, make plays whenever I get the opportunity, and continue improving every week,” Ngando said.

Currently, Ngando noted that he hasn’t been contacted by any college programs yet and has no visits planned. However, a slot receiver with a 42-inch vertical, legitimate 4.4 speed, and a willingness to block for his teammates is the exact type of weapon that collegiate spread offenses look for.

Being a class of ’28 prospect, Ngando has plenty of time to make his impression on college evaluators. For now, Marist is on the championship hunt in 5A, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear more about Ngando and standout players across the state of Georgia.
