Here are the Week 9 standouts from our weekend research. We have a brief write-up on each of the 10 athletes we selected, along with individual game footage from Hudl, when available.
Voting for the Player of the Week is directly underneath and ends Tuesday at 10 p.m. You can only vote once per hour! The winner will get a featured story on the website and a custom highlight video.
Braylon Miller
SR Newton
Athlete
If you were to create a player in College Football 27, Miller would be that guy, because he puts up video game numbers in last week’s 38-27 come-from-behind victory against Grayson. Braylon Miller caught a screen pass and took it 78 yards for a score in the first half, and then in the 2nd half, threw TD passes of 30 and 64 yards and returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown, as Newton rallied from a 24-7 third-quarter deficit. In the 2nd half, Miller assumed QB duties after starting QB Josiah Frazier was injured. They took the lead 25-24 on Miller’s first TD pass to Keyon Standifer and increased it to 31-24 on his 80-yard interception return.
Javarris Warner
SR Troup
Running Back
Troup’s undefeated season couldn’t and wouldn’t be stopped in Week 9. Senior running back Javarris Warner was dominant, rushing for 341 yards and 3 touchdowns on 23 carries. The big play came on a 99-yard score that broke the back of the Baldwin team. You can see that video below. The Troup senior back is committed to Duke and has rushed for 1536 yards on just 136 carries. The senior back has big aspirations and keeps posting 3k season on social media. Only a handful of athletes in state history have done that before, but a state title finish might make that possible.
Micah Joyner
SOPH Dougherty
Quarterback
The upset of the week goes to Dougherty beating Cairo 26-23. The 29-point underdog came into the Week 9 matchup 6-1, and after the dust settles, they’ll be ranked in the 4A rankings. Sophomore Micah Joyner was fantastic, completing 19-of-27 for 284 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushing for 145 yards on 13 carries. The young sophomore passer is an explosive quick-twitch passer who is set for a great career at Dougherty, and this upset win against Cairo is just the beginning. No film from the game just yet.
Tucker Parson
SOPH Hart co.
Quarterback
Hart County had a big 36-30 win over Elbert County. The sophomore passer, Tucker Parson, was 18-of-23 passing for 348 yards and four touchdowns. Parson’s made a few nice scrambles to keep the chains moving too. The win gives Hart County a 7-1 record and the inside path to the Region 8 Championship. Parson has thrown for 1805 yards and completed 66% of his passes this season. He’s another talented QB in the class of 2030 to watch.
Lyndon Worthy
SR Worth Co.
Quarterback
Last year’s Class A Player of the Year is never someone to bet against. Worthy threw for 361 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 49-19 beatdown of previously #8-ranked Crisp County. Worthy’s confidence and swagger are unmatched in the class of ’27. They’ll be a dangerous team down the stretch here, as Worth County starts to shore up the defense, and the talented senior passers hit postseason form. Because when the pressure is up, Worthy will not fold.
Joshua Scott
SR Stockbridge
Quarterback
Stockbridge senior Joshua Scott was terrific, completing 19 of 24 passes for 218 yards and also 9 carries for 140 yards in a 60-28 win over MLK. Scott threw for four touchdowns. MLK was previously 5-2 and has been a tough team all year. Meanwhile, Stockbridge continues to be the most underrated team in 5A, with their only two losses to North Oconee and Valdosta. They are the type of team to make a deep playoff run with a talented QB like Scott behind center.
Czar Daniels
SR Columbia
Quarterback
The senior passer threw 5 touchdowns and completed 14 passes for 283 yards in a 42-10 win over Miller Grove. Columbia continues to prove why they are one of the best teams in 5A. Daniels proficient awareness on the field managed to score a touchdown on every three passes he completed. The senior has done a great job of spreading the ball around to his playmakers, getting the ball out quickly, and making tough pinpoint throws this season. Columbia is currently the #5 team in our 3A rankings.
Jabari Green
SR Hillgrove
Quarterback
Hillgrove took down their Kennesaw Mountain neighbors in a 48-7 thumping where the senior passer threw for 347 passing yards and 4 touchdowns. The senior had a 153 QBR on the night. The big performance put Green’s season total at 935 passing yards and 7 touchdowns. Green is a big-time team player who does a great job executing the game plan, whether that is throwing the ball 20-30 times or just a handful.
Win Garmany
SOPH Dade Co.
Quarterback
Dade County junior completed 94% of his passes on a 16/17 clip for 351 yards and 3 touchdowns in a huge 54-14 win over Chattooga. The 40-point margin exceeds a 35-point margin in 2023, when Dade County won 42-7. Garmany didn’t just beat Chattooga through the air; he ran for 42 rushing yards and had two more scores. The 6’2″ student-athlete has a 4.0 GPA and seems like a no-brainer for programs to recruit. He’s visited Samford over the weekend, so that has already started.
Jett Whitworth
JR Franklin Co.
Wide Receiver
Franklin County’s big win over Morgan County is one of the best in Week 9. They won by a score of 33-29, and junior receiver/safety Jett Whitworth was all over the field with 209 receiving yards, 12 catches, and two touchdowns, along with 9 tackles on defense. Whitworth plays with good defensive instincts, getting low to the ground and is explosive tracking down the ball carrier. Good all-around football player who stepped up and made winning plays all night.
