Here are the Week 2 standouts from our weekend research. We have a brief write-up on each of the 10 athletes we selected, along with individual game footage from Hudl, when available.

Jace Murray

Linebacker
Lee County came from behind, down 20-8, and pulled off a major 23-20 win over Carol City. SR LB Jace Murray had 14 tackles, two sacks, and three tackles for loss. The powerful two-sport athlete (baseball too) committed to Army over the summer, but with this kind of production and film, that might attract more local programs to jump back into the picture.
Cooper Shumate

Quarterback
Monroe Area’s Cooper Shumate continues his hot streak, completing 16 of 21 passes for 327 yards and also rushing for 176 yards and two more scores. His 503 total yards of offense helped take down Loganville 52-35. Monroe Area is currently the #9 team in our 4A rankings.
Jae’Veon Williams
SR Pierce Co.
Running Back
Pierce County beats down Brooks County 47-26, and who did they go to? Jae’Veon Williams, the explosive SR back who has been quietly the most productive back in the lower classifications in Georgia. Williams rushed for 322 yards and four touchdowns on 37 carries. He ran for 1900 yards as a JR. Amazingly, his Hudl from last season only has 30 views at the time of writing this.
Christian Hayes
SR Thomasville
Athlete
Hayes probably didn’t think he would be QB this time a year ago at Thomasville, but the SR has stepped up and made big plays in a 45-21 victory over Bainbridge. Hayes rushed for 221 yards and four touchdowns and was 7-of-13 passing for 86 yards. Hayes committed to Campbell over the summer.
Ronnie Mitchell
JR Lowndes
Linebacker
Lowndes handled Harris County in a 38-0 win where they also led at halftime. 2028 linebacker Ronnie Mitchell had 17 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, and 1 FF. The Lowndes JR linebacker is putting up big numbers to start the season. The production is impressive, but his film pops even more, flying to the football and delivering big hits.
Jake Trail

Quarterback
Veterans SR QB Jake Trail had 388 passing yards, completing 66% of his passes for 2 touchdowns and 17 rushing yards in a 35-31 win over Trinity Christian. The senior passer currently leads his region in passing yards.
Joseph Alvarez
JR Lumpkin Co.
Running Back
Joseph Alvarez, JR RB Lumpkin County, rushed for 320 yards and 3 touchdowns on 30 carries with a long of 65 yards. Lumpkin County edges out Pickens in a 42-28 win that pushes the team 2-0 to the start of the season. The Lumpkin County offense definitely looks to be legit this season with a slew of offensive weapons and a stout offensive line.
Kayden Fears

Running Back
Social Circle holds ground in a 31-28 OT win over Providence Christian where the SR back had 207 yards rushing on 33 carries and two touchdowns. The tough back was bouncing off tackles, constantly moving his feet through contact in this major early-season win for Social Circle.
Caden Jones

Quarterback
Lassiter is 2-0, grabbing our attention, and it’s the sophomore QB Caden Jones who continues to grab headlines. The 2029 passer helped his team to a 52-14 win over Allatoona, throwing for 354 passing yards on 19 of 26 attempts and 4 touchdowns. Jones looks to be another dynamic arm talent in the class of ’29.
Jordan Turner
JR Bethesda Acd.
Quarterback/Athlete
Bethesda Academy JR is the lone non-GHSA selection, but after taking down the #5 team in Private, it is well earned. Turner threw for 280 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 14 carries for 172 yards, plus one more score. The super-fast JR athlete had a total of 452 in a 32-28 win over Savannah Christian.
