Here are the Week 7 standouts from our weekend research. We have a brief write-up on each of the 10 athletes we selected, along with individual game footage, when available.

We also have a poll for our Player of the Week directly underneath, which will end on Tuesday at 10 p.m. You can only vote once per hour! The winner will get a featured story on the website and a custom highlight video.

Ty Cummings
SR West Laurens
Running Back

Cummings broke the state’s single-game rushing record with 615 yards and 8 touchdowns in a 70-55 win over Baldwin. This game for the ages showcased some wild stat lines, including runs that covered distances of 59, 91, 75, 53, 59, 59, 86, and 78 yards, but also, Cummings did all on 19 carries. West Lauren goes to 6-0 on the season, and while they have just begun to enter a lot of media rankings, they have been in ours since the preseason. Cummings’ electric play was a determining factor, but also, West Laurens has an experienced OL with D1 size across the board.

Kamden Patterson
SOPH Baldwin
Quarterback

You don’t see a final score of 70-55 without the opposing team creating some big offensive numbers, and Baldwin’s SOPH QB Kamden Patterson went supernova, going 34-47 for 432 passing yards, 5 touchdowns, 21 yards receiving, and 9 carries for 67 yards. With over 500 yards of total offense, the Baldwin 2028 prospect will obviously be one to watch moving forward. He shows good footwork climbing the pocket with confidence, and snaps off passes with velocity.

Justin Murphy
JR North Clayton
Quarterback

North Clayton takes down #4 Stephenson 42-41 behind the legs and arm of dual-threat junior Justin Murphy. The explosive athlete ran for 237 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns with a long of 90 yards, and was 7-11 for 113 passing yards with zero turnovers. This was a statement game for North Clayton, beating a talented defensive line with FBS recruits who were keyed into stopping Murphy, but his 10.5 100m speed was too much. North Clayton now jumps into our 3A rankings at #10.

Jae’Veon Williams
JR Pierce Co.
Running Back

The JR back has been consistently amazing for Pierce County this season, and last week against Vidalia was no different. Williams rushed for 234 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries in a 21-0 win over Vidalia. The JR back has great speed, capable of finding a seam and getting past the whole defense in the blink of an eye. The 5’9″ 191 lbs. junior back might fly under the radar for now, but he is on track to be All-State in 2A, and has Pierce County looking like a title contender once more.

Gavin Nucholls
SR NW Whitfield
Quarterback

The senior QB took down rival Heritage-Ringgold for the first time in his 4-year career with a 49-0 blowout. Nucholls completed 12-20 for 291 yards and 4 touchdowns, along with 104 rushing yards and 2 more scores. The 4-year starter has been extremely productive throughout his career orchestrating the NW offense, and this season they are 5-1 and averaging 43 yards per game.

Kamarion Johnson
SR Clinch
Wide Receiver

Clinch beat Irwin County 61-14, the largest total in the 51 matchups between the two schools. Johnson scored on 5 of the 6 passes he caught and went for 198 yards, breaking the school’s single-game record. The 6’1″, 185 lbs. junior receiver has looked impressive to start, and will be one to watch during this next recruiting cycle.

Jordan Wiggins
FR Northeast
Quarterback

Northeast faced off against Dublin in an important top 10 Class A DI matchup where the freshman QB would need to be on point with his efficiency. Wiggins answered completing 19-of-26 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns in a 20-0 win. Northeast improves to 5-1 on the year with their sole loss to 3A’s #2 ranked team, Peach County. As of now, no film from the game.

AB Hilton
JR Screven Co.
Running Back

Junior AB Hilton rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in a 35-14 win over Jenkins County. That puts the 2027 back over 400 yards in just the last two games, both against some of the better teams in Class A DII. Screven County is undefeated and firmly in our rankings at #7. Hilton is producing like an All-State RB at the moment, and by the time we announce those accolades in December, the JR should have a handful of P4 offers.

Justin Powell
SR Toombs Co.
Athlete

Justin Powell rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns on just 12 carries while also totaling a few tackles on defense in a 28-6 win over Tattnall County. The final score is a bit misleading. Toombs County led 7-6 entering the fourth quarter and scored three touchdowns with Powell being the driving force. The SR has been an emerging star of the Toombs County offensive attack this season as they improve to 5-1 and are ranked #1 in Class A DI.

Kurston Curry
JR Hart Co.
Quarterback

The shocker of Week 7 goes to Hart County beating Prince Avenue 31-28. Junior quarterback Kurston Curry completed 10-for-12 passing for 191 yards and threw for a touchdown. He had 12 rushes for 110 yards, giving the junior a total of 300 yards on the night, and gifting Prince Avenue their first loss to an unranked opponent since 2021. Curry is a two-sport star who also excels on the basketball court for Hart County.
