Garrison Edwards is an Offensive Weapon

Troup’s Garrison Edwards is playing out a dream senior season. The undefeated program totaled four wins, a consensus top 10 team among every media outlet, including #8 on here, and the main ingredient has been the senior passer, Garrison Edwards.

He earned Player of the Week on the site after his impressive Saturday showing against Mary Persons in Week 5. Edwards had 310 total yards and 6 touchdowns, helping his team to a 49-35 win over an always tough opponent in Mary Persons.

“The start of my senior year has gone as well as I could have prayed for and hoped. Since the beginning of summer workouts, the team has dedicated a great deal of time and effort to reaching our full potential on the football field. I think we’re just scratching the surface of how good we can be. We are off to a 4-0 start. We are now getting into the most difficult part of our season as we get deep into region play,” Edwards said.

The offense has been humming, averaging 44.25 points per game thus far. Edwards has a total of 572 passing yards, with a 70.7% completion, and 7 touchdowns, while on the ground, he has 334 yards and 5 more touchdowns.

“My goal for the rest of the season is to remain focused and for us to continue to grind and strive on the practice field and game field with a championship mindset,” he said.

A championship mindset seems to permeate Edwards’ persona. After every game, the following day, Edwards is putting in work, refining his skills, and learning. That kind of insatiable hunger to improve provides a bigger picture for the team at large.

“As a team, we will continue to support and push each other, which will only make us better; no matter the stage or opponent, we want to play each game with confidence and dominate. As a team, we know we must take care of business in the classroom, weight room, and practice field,” he said.

The senior’s focus is a major edge in his development. Over the offseason, he was selected for a leadership program, so he applied those ideas during the offseason when reviewing where he needed to improve.

“After last season, I looked back and evaluated myself to determine what I could do to make a better upcoming season. I figured out I could better help by becoming a better leader and involving the total offense.” He continued, “I worked on getting the ball out to our playmakers and let them go to work. I wanted everyone to be involved and understand their role, but I first had to understand my role. I think that is a big reason why we are having the success on the offensive side this year.”

Edwards is a great student with a 4.4 GPA and a 1120 on the SATs. He was a major performer for Troup’s 3A state title in baseball last spring, and at the next level, the 2026 prospect plans to play both sports at Murray State. He talked about his relationship with the staff and how it felt like the best opportunity.

“After many great talks over the telephone with Coach Jody Wright and an amazing camp visit, I really felt like they would provide me with the best opportunity to be successful in the classroom and on the football and baseball field. I like the campus, facility, and coaching staff. The overall environment was really safe and pleasant,” he said.

When asked what he would bring to the Murray State program, Edwards was confident in his ability to digest film, read a defense, and anticipate their next move. He has great athleticism to break open electric plays that other QBs cannot create. No doubt, Troup Co. is playing some of its best football in recent years.

We chose them for the ‘underdog’ program in 3A during our preseason preview, and in large part, we believe that Edwards was a true difference-maker. Heading down the 2nd half of the regular season, Troup looks like a legit competitor to make a deep playoff push, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on Edwards and players across the state of Georgia.
