Senior DB Gives WRs Fitts

AJ Fitts has been a solid prospect to emerge this year for Allatoona. The senior has 3 interceptions on the year and just under 10 pass breakups as well.

Perhaps the best play of the season came last week for the 6’1″ 190 lbs. senior. Fitts used his quick hands off a deflection at the 20-yard line and ran it all the way back for a pick-six.

The senior weaved around a few River Ridge players in the process before crossing the endzone. The play ultimately was named to our weekly top 10 plays on Sunday night and the following 24 hours Fitts was voted the #1 play of the week.

For Fitts, this season has been excellent where he has showcased his size and versatility.

“My senior year has gone pretty well I have started to play both ways this year playing mostly corner,” the senior said.

Fitts’ versatility at receiver displays his good body control going over the middle of the field, and his excellent size as a defensive back suggests the senior could play a number of positions in the secondary at the next level. This season has been an adjustment year for the senior who was primarily an offensive player last fall.

“I think I have improved the most playing corner because last year I was mostly receiver,” Fitts said.

Allatoona started off rocky this season, but has come on strong in the 2nd half of the season, and is a dangerous program getting hot at the right time of the year. Fitts shares our sentiment and is confident going into tonight’s game against Douglas County.

“I am feeling confident going into to playoffs with the recent turn around in our team these pass couple of games,” he said.

Fitts should certainly make an impact tonight like he has all year for Allatoona. Colleges have started to take a notice of his skill set, and he currently holds a handful of offers with more college visits upcoming.

“I have 5 offers now and I visited Albany State this past weekend but in these next couple of weeks, I plan to visit ETSU, University of Tennessee Martin, and Alabama State.”

The next month should be very busy for Fitts both on the field and in the recruiting process. Personally, we believe that Fitts Allatoona squad will play beyond tonight’s game, but we will see.
