Gibson was region defensive player of the year in 2019. What stands out right away with him on film is his ability to track the ball carrier. He is a very alert player who gets a nice jump on the play. Plays downhill and drives his legs thru the tackle. Fundamentals are very good wrapping up at the thighs. He’s only 180 lbs. and playing OLB seem unlikely. Camps are going to be huge for Gibson to see if he can transition to SS. As for now, he is one of the better technique tacklers we have seen among the SS/OLB recruits. He absolutely has a nose for the football and there is no doubt that he is effective against the run. He should be around 195 as a senior, so should be unloading even bigger hits. Definitely a player to invite to your camp to see how he looks in man coverage, might be worth a bite for an FBS school, but right now leaning more with FCS interest at this point.
