What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?

I play with a high motor. I play through the whistle rather than to the whistle every play.

Varner emerged this season onto the varsity with some promising film and solid stats to boot. From an athletic stand point he really stands out, and just watching him get after the ball carrier you can see his high-upside. He has a good frame to continue to add some serious weight and end up being around 260 at the next level with out losing much of his speed. This upcoming offseason we want to see his power clean and bench press really move closer to 300 pounds each – that would really add to his explosiveness. He has long arms, shows a lot of potential at getting off his blocks but would like to see more active hands. Varner is a solid all-around football player, he has really good speed coming in pursuit out to the sideline and his length disrupts both the option and passing game. We expect another jump this offseason, which could land him some serious offers.

2017 STATS: 36 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 FF & FR
