Recruiting Buzz

Dameon Williams, a junior Norcross cornerback, visited Duke last Saturday for an unofficial. On Monday, the athletic corner was notified by the Duke staff that he had received an offer—his first FBS offer. Interestingly enough, just two days after his Duke offer, archrival North Carolina submitted one itself. Notably, Williams had an impressive four-interception game against Mountain View this season.

In other Norcross news, 4-star defensive end Robert Beal committed to Notre Dame. The junior sack master was offered first by Nebraska in February and soon after blew up as a national recruit, receiving well over 20 offers. He is an elite pass-rusher with incredible speed and size (6’4″, 230) to get by offensive tackles with ease. FILM

Senior Goodman commits to Harvard

Senior Goodman commits to Harvard

A pair of Walton linebackers committed over the week. Joey Goodman, who we highlighted earlier this year, was offered by Harvard over Halloween weekend and soon after committed. Outside linebacker Taji Stewart chose Sun Belt school South Alabama mid-week.

That makes three Walton linebackers (Christian Sullivan being the other) who are now committed to Division I schools. Walton’s fourth linebacker, Garrett Eldredvisited Charleston Southern last weekend. Which begs the question, how many high schools have four senior linebackers who are either committed to or being recruited by Division I colleges?

Brittain Brown also visited Duke last Saturday in their crushing defeat against Miami. The Blue Devil commit is currently leading Class AAAAAA with 1,690 yards and 18 touchdowns. Against the vaunted Roswell defense Brown tallied 228 yards rushing on 28 carries and two receptions for 77 yards. He could end up being their most anticipated incoming freshman ever. RG Profile

Junior Stevenson is very interested in App State

Junior Stevenson is very interested in App State

Stavion Stevenson had a great visit to App State last weekend in the triple-OT win against Troy. Stevenson is a very athletic defensive end prospect who is a little raw, but he has a great work ethic and very high ceiling. RG Profile

Tyler Fannin received his third offer from Charlotte. The Mill Creek junior center now has three FBS offers with Marshall and Kansas State offering this fall, as well. RG Profile

Riverwood wide receiver Evan Crossing was offered by Jacksonville State on Nov. 1. Looks like the acrobatic wideout’s recruitment is starting to heat up—just a few weeks back Crossing received an offer from Navy.

Elijah Ponder announced on Twitter that he committed to Cincinnati. The 6’4″ defensive end from South Cobb blew up this summer receiving a lot of interest from Power 5 schools but decided in the end he wanted to become a Bearcat.

Richard Lecounte, one of the elite safety prospects for the class of 2017, announced his top seven via Twitter. In no order: Ohio State, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and Georgia Southern.

Adam Johnson from White Co.

White Co. defensive back Adam Johnson informed Recruit Georgia that he will be playing in the North-South Georgia All-Star Classic on Dec. 30. No film from this year so far, but here is 2014 FILM.

North Clayton’s Ali Hill and Terrance Harris were offered by Albany State recently. This was the first offer for the 6’3″, 185-pound wide receiver/defensive back and 6’3″, 205 outside linebacker.

Owen Pappoe, a 2019 outside linebacker with right at 20 college scholarship offers already, was offered by Missouri and Illinois over the weekend. Stay tuned to Recruit Georgia for Pappoe’s latest offers and visits.

Another sensational freshman received good news this week. Dominick Blaylock, Walton’s big-play receiver, was offered by Michigan on Nov. 5. Every week Blaylock seems to land another offer from a Power 5 conference team (NC State last week).

Newton’s Robert Sease is visiting Eastern Kentucky this weekend. Sease is an athletic junior linebacker who is being hotly pursued by a handful of mid-majors. He just recently visited Charlotte and told Recruit Georgia he had a great visit.

Artice Hobbs ended his recruitment on Nov. 5 with the commitment to Army. Hobbs is a speedy back who should fit in well at the A-Back spot on Army’s offense. The Newton senior is also a great student athlete with a 4.0 GPA. Hobbs is Army’s third commit from Georgia.

CS0szS_WsAAwx-cSenior slot receiver Major Bellamy was offered by Samford. The super-quick receiver from Central Gwinnett has a knack for finding open spots in the coverage and fits perfectly into Chris Hatcher’s air-raid offense.

East Paulding offensive tackle Michael Cone has been getting a lot of mail from UGA lately. He told Recruit Georgia he can’t wait to be in Athens this weekend. RG Profile

Creekside cornerback DJ Brown was offered by Wisconsin on Nov. 4. The junior cornerback has received a lot of FBS offers over the last six months.

Corey Reed, an athletic wide receiver from Mays, was offered by Troy. He is 6’2″, 190 and should really start to garner attention from Power 5 schools.

Wake Forest offered 2018 tight end/defensive end recruit Tyneil Hopper. FILM

Marvin Kinsey Jr., a current Georgia Southern commit, let us know that Utah State offered him today. Kinsey is having a great senior campaign, running over 1,000 yards.

Gray Nichols will be taking his first unofficial visit to Shorter this weekend. The 2018 offensive guard is starting his first season of varsity ball and is very fundamentally sound. RG Profile
